Christmas

During the holiday season it's time to be near people you love. (And when you are around people you love you will be stuck with people you don't like but the people you love, love.) When your family members are like,

Then no matter how awkward and silent it gets you can not leave the conversation without seeming rude. The only part about holiday parties I like is the part where we eat food.

But for those of you who won't be with family and friends, be glad you won't be in awkward conversations with them.

I just found out about a sad story. Probably the saddest story ever.
There's a missing pigeon from Germany. Someone stole it.

Pray for the pigeon

Girls in our Basement?

That title is really confusing, because it's not what it sounds like...

Something I hate is planning what to get for people for Christmas. I get asked all the time, “What should I get so and so for Christmas?” I’m just like, “Uh… Socks? How should I know?”
Since we are so close to Christmas, I should be done with shopping, but I’m not… Haven’t even started. I didn’t go to Black Friday, so I missed my big chance.

But as fun as preparing for Christmas is, the holidays have their major downsides. Since I live in California, it never gets cold enough to snow (except for in the mountains). The closest we have had to snow in a long time on the valley floor is hail, and that was two years ago.

We usually get some rain instead of snow. Then the ground is all muddy, and it’s really cold. But still now snow.
During the two weeks I have off for the holidays, my mom, brother, and I go visit my grandparents. It usually snows for about 10 minutes, and then sits on the ground and looks miserable.

Once when we were there it snowed a lot, like enough to build a two foot tall snowman. I couldn’t believe it. I was having a white Christmas.

We made plans to go sledding somewhere the day after Christmas. So I woke up the next day, so excited, and I looked outside, and the snow melted.

I could see the grass through the thin layer of snow. I was pretty upset.

I remember another time from years ago at their house. Behind where they lived there was a family with two girls, one who was my age (I think her name was Ashley), and one who was about 5 years older than me. Ashley introduced me to other girls in the neighborhood and I only remember a few parts of what happened. Here’s a few parts: I was in Ashley’s house playing on the computer, then sometime later I was on another girl’s doorstep, then I was in another girl’s room playing with dolls… I have no idea how my parents let me do this. They always pull the “You’re going to get kidnapped” card, so somehow I snuck around it. Then I remember about 6 girls, who I barely even knew all in my Grandparents’ basement, playing on the exercise equipment. I remember my mom coming downstairs and just staring at us like we were crazy (which we were).

I have no idea what happened after that. I think they all went to Ashley’s house, and I had to stay back because I caused problems.
I think Ashley moved to Germany with her family a few months later, and apparently came back last year. Next time I visit my grandparents’ house I should go over to the house where they lived and be like, “Yo, Ashley."

Happy Holidays

Just Get it Over With

So we are already reaching the end of the first semester, and all the teachers are preparing us for finals. Most of the people in my classes complain about writing the essay or studying or doing whatever you need to do to get ready.

I usually wait to the last minute to do my preparations, but this year I will do whatever it takes to get out of these classes. A majority of the people in my freshman classes are a year or two above this level. So you are telling me that you failed this class in freshman year, failed it in sophomore year, and now you are a junior and are hoping to pass? This is the simplest class you could ever be in. All you do is take notes, take a test at the end of the week, and write an essay every 3 months. It is not that hard. But as soon as Mr. or Mrs. Teacher opens their mouth saying, "Hey there's an essay coming up. Study!" everyone is like, "eughhhh! Not again..."

And I'm over here like, "Uh, you thought that you were just going to come to class all year and never write an essay?" I have found that you really shouldn't complain about what you are doing. Whether it's an essay, or running a mile, or memorizing the Declaration of Independence, you shouldn't try to get out of it by wishing that all the sudden your hand or leg will break, or the teacher will all the sudden call it off. No, just sit your butt down with a pen and paper and write yourself an essay to get out of this class and move on with your life.

Think about it. What if one day you show up at a job interview and they look at your grades, and they see you failed something multiple times?

My point is that when there is something that has to be done, just get it over with or you will feel stupid after. And you will just have to waste time doing something over and over again. And you think it was bad the first time... Just get it done.
